Indian Head Massage
Traditional head massage ("champi" or "champissage") has been practised for over a thousand years in India. The modern practice was perfected by Mr. Narendra Mehta, who came to the UK and was disappointed not to be able to have an Indian Head Massage here. He returned to India to learn the therapy and then returned to the UK to teach therapists here.
Indian Head Massage is a technique of manipulating soft tissues in the shoulders and scalp. I use a range of different massage pressures and rhythms to stimulate the head and neck area. A typical massage lasts around 30 minutes. The technique releases muscle tension and stimulates circulation, allowing cells to fully oxygenate. The massage also stretches and mobilises the tissues of the neck and shoulders and stimulates lymphatic drainage.
The scalp circulation is stimulated and improved and this helps to promote strength and growth of the hair. The scalp is relaxed and the subcutaneous muscles are toned, thus helping to relieve headaches, eye strain and to focus concentration.
The technique soothes, comforts and harmonises the body's natural balance, so helping to promote physical and psychological well being leaving you with a feeling of peace and tranquillity.
Indian Head Massage ensures that the skin, muscles and bones are gently moved and stimulated. This can be done with or without clothing, it is entirely up to you. You will be seated in a hardbacked chair. I maybe able to come to your home or other place such as your place of work and provide you with this treatment.
